Teenage girl assaulted on canal path in broad daylight in Tavistock

Police say the 17-year-old suffered minor injuries

A teenage girl has reportedly been assaulted along a canal path in Tavistock.

Devon and Cornwall Police say the 17-year-old suffered minor injuries after it happened in broad daylight, sometime between 2.30pm and 2.50pm on Thursday afternoon.

The alleged offence took place between Tavistock College and Drakes Farm, near to Crowndale Road.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and want anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

The area is regularly used by dog walkers and police have urged anyone with information to come forward.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until 2nd March while enquiries continue.
