A special livestreamed service is being held in Cornwall in memory of the Duke of Edinburgh.

Prince Philip passed away on Friday morning at the age of 99.

His death sparked tributes from across the Duchy and people around the country have been mourning the death of the senior member of the Royal Family.

Truro Cathedral says that over the past 70 years he 'provided unerring and wonderfully dutiful support' for Her Majesty the Queen.

They added that 'his commitment to public service has been unparalleled' and they join the rest of the nation in 'sending our sympathy and condolences to Her Majesty and the Royal Family.'

"The death of Prince Philip brings into focus a life of extraordinary service, not only as a devoted and loyal consort to Her Majesty the Queen, but also for his commitment to the World Wildlife Fund and to young people with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. We owe him an enormous debt of gratitude and appreciation for a life of service and dedication.”

The Dean of Truro, the Very Revd Roger Bush

About the service

To comply with Covid regulations, there will be no physical book of remembrance to sign in Truro Cathedral itself.

Instead, people are being invited to sign a virtual book of condolence for Prince Philip online.

The cathedral will extend its opening for private prayer for the coming week and will be open from 10am to 6pm until Sunday 18th April.

Anyone who wishes to leave a floral tribute is asked to please do so at the west end of the Cathedral Green, ensuring that all Covid restrictions are adhered to.

The Sunday Eucharists at 10am and 11.30am will have special prayers for Prince Philip, and there will be a special Evening Service at 4pm dedicated to HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

The 4pm service on Sunday 11th April will be livestreamed at the link below...
