One of Truro's biggest car parks has been forced to close amid safety fears over the structure.

Urgent works are being carried out at Viaduct, after concerns were identified following a routine condition inspection.

Officials expect the works to for a couple of weeks and say they will keep locals and visitors informed.

A post on Truro & the Roseland Community Network - Cornwall Council Facebook page confirmed the news on Friday (14th May).

Cornwall Council has also confirmed that the city's Tregurra Park and Ride is also closed.

"Following a routine condition inspection yesterday of the Viaduct Car Park, a safety issue has been raised regarding the structure.

"Therefore, in order to ensure public safety, the decision has been taken to temporarily close the Viaduct Multi-Storey Car Park today while emergency works are undertaken to rectify the issue.

"An instruction has been issued to undertake the required works to enable the car park to open as soon as possible and it is anticipated that these works will be completed over the next couple of weeks.

"We will provide further updates when the repair programme has been confirmed.
