Two casualties cut free following serious crash on A39 near Truro

Two people have had to be cut free after a serious crash on the A39 in Cornwall.

Emergency services rushed to reports a car had gone down an embankment at Playing Place near Truro.

Two casualties were released by firefighters late on Friday afternoon, before being left in the care of paramedics.

Devon & Cornwall Police and Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service were called just after 4pm, with South Western Ambulance in attendance too.

The road was closed to allow crews to release the casualties and administer first aid.

As yet, no further details have been released on their conditions.

Statement from Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service

A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service said: "One fire appliance from Truro and the rescue tender from Tolvaddon were mobilised to a report of a vehicle that had come off the road and had gone over an embankment, with people trapped.

"The fire crews were quickly on scene and confirmed that two people were trapped.

"Firefighters stabilised the vehicle and assisted the ambulance crews with first aid.

"Devon & Cornwall Police attended and the road was closed.

"The first casualty was extricated from the vehicle by 1640hrs and placed in care of the ambulance crews.

"The roof of the vehicle was removed to extricate the second casualty by 1720hrs, and they were also left in care of ambulance crews.

"No further details are available from Cornwall Fire & Rescue, particularly on the condition of the casualties".
