The University of Warwick, home of Warwick Esports, is holding a two-day celebration for the opening of its new Esports Centre.

Esports enthusiasts can visit the Centre on 15th September to attend panels from leading esports figures and tournament organisers.

The afternoon will also include the awarding of the British University Esports Championship (BUEC) trophy by the National Student Esports (NSE) body.

The Centre is located in the 'Junction' facility on the Warwick campus and was supported by £275,000 of investment by the university.

Students will now have access to cutting-edge facilities that can help in training and research into esports, as well as a competition venue.

Jack Fenton, Warwick’s Esports Consultant, said: “As esports continue to flourish globally, it is vital that we bring together the technological and scientific skills to take esports to the next level."

Mr Fenton also said the new Esports Centre will help the Warwick community better understand the psychological and nutritional needs of competitors, provide students with technical skills and create an inclusive esports body.

The facility will also provide esports-focused opportunities for the wider region such as research programmes, tourism events and new job openings.
