Man charged with violent robbery in Coventry

Police have charged a man following a violent robbery at a supermarket in Coventry.

A shop worker was assaulted during the robbery at S&M Supermarket in Southbank Road around 8.50am on Tuesday (8 June).

Money was stolen from the till along with cigarettes and alcohol.

Michael Hennessy, of St Nicholas Street, Coventry, was arrested on Tuesday (15 June), one week after the incident.

The 37-year-old has now been charged with robbery. He was remanded in custody to appear at court at a later date.
