Three men have today been convicted over the killing of Marvin Warmington in Coventry.

Momoh Sesay and Arhin Tutu have been found guilty of murder and Daniel Israel has been convicted of manslaughter

Mr Warmington was killed after an argument over drug dealing and the theft of a shared bicycle.

In the early hours of 20 August 2023, following the argument, the group were in Gosford Green Park when Mr Warmington was stabbed in the heart.

The trio were then seen making off and the murder weapon was found concealed in a bush within the park.

Mr Warmington was taken to hospital but died from his injuries a few days later.

Following enquiries by officers in the area, Tutu aged 23, Sesay aged 23 and Israel aged 35 were identified and arrested, with mobile phone conversations showing Israel and Sesay discussing what happened.

Further messages showed them discussing fleeing to London and describing one another as brothers, with one saying: "...never had a brother but found one in you... I will forever be a gang member."

Messages between Israel and Tutu showed they were involved in drug dealing, helping officers draw a clearer picture of the motive behind the attack.

Tutu, who was arrested with a samurai sword in the waistband of his trousers, answered "no comment" in interview.

Sesay denied being the one who stabbed Mr Warmington, whom he referred to as ‘Reds.’ Instead saying he tried to defuse the situation.

Despite this, he could provide no explanation as to why his fingerprints were on the knife recovered from the park.

Israel claimed in interview he was only a drug user and not a dealer, and denied being the one who stabbed Mr Warmington.

When Sesay's address was searched, officers found class A drugs and weighing scales, as well as mobile phones used to sell drugs.

All three men had previously pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and Tutu had pleaded guilty of possession of an offensive weapon.

Sesay from Coventry, Tutu from Bulkington and Israel of no fixed abode are due to be sentenced on 26 March.
