The Bluebird K7 is starting its journey home from the North East to Cumbria today after more than 23 years.

The historic hydroplane - which set several records - belonged to the late Donald Campbell who died in a crash on Coniston Water in 1967.

He was trying to beat his own record at the time and the boat was recovered from the lake in October 2000.

It's been re-built in Newcastle and will be welcomed home by Gina Campbell, Donald's daughter.

Amy Dixon is from the Bluebird cafe and said:

"It means an awful lot. Bluebird K7 is part of our identity here at the cafe and to the village too.

"We feel that this is her spiritual home and this is where she should spend the rest of her days.

"It's also where Donald Campbell is buried so the fact that the two of them together, it's the final piece of the jigsaw and it's what we've been waiting for."
