A gang has been sentenced to a combined 100 plus years in jail - after their involvement in a massive £53 million nationwide cocaine supply.

They were caught after a drugs seizure in the Lake District.

Ten men aged 31 to 63 played key roles in a 15-month criminal enterprise which saw vast quantities of the class A substance imported into UK ports, warehoused and then distributed across England, Wales and Scotland by trusted couriers.

Police seized a kilo of cocaine in Bowness-on-Windermere, in February last year which led to the arrests.

Prosecutors have described the operation as “truly-massive” and “Amazon-style” in terms of its organised distribution.

Nine people have been sentenced today, whilst the 10th will appear in court next month.
