Man killed in A66 accident

Police are appealing for witnesses

Cumbria Police are appealing for information following a two vehicle collision on the A66 near Kirkby Thore at around 5:55am on 13th February.

The collision involved a Honda and a HGV.

The driver of the Honda motor car was treated at scene by paramedics and taken to the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle. The driver, a man in his 70s from Leeds died shortly after reaching hospital.

The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

Specialist officers are investigating the collision and are supporting the families of those involved.

The A66 was closed for a number of hours whilst a forensic examination of the scene was conducted and the vehicles recovered.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, especially if you have dashcam and were in the area around the time of the collision.
