More detail has been revealed about plans for 19 homes in the west Cumbrian village of Cleator.

Copeland Borough Council has received a further, more detailed planning application for the 19 homes on land to the north of Flosh Meadows, Cleator. The latest application reveals plans for the layout, scale, appearance and landscaping of nineteen homes, which are an extension of the 21-dwelling scheme previously approved in 2016.

The new homes for the Cleator site will have sandstone features, natural slate roofs and roller shutter garage doors.

The applicant, Richard Mulholland of Flosh Farm House, has said that 13 dwellings will be build per hectare.

Issues have been raised at previous stages of the development process but the applicant has said that care has been taken to avoid disruption.

He said:

“The properties are shown to have large driveways to accommodate a number of vehicles” and a minimum of two parking spaces will be provided within the curtilage of each dwelling.

In the latest application, the developer said that bases of trees and hedges will be kept free of weeds using herbicides and planting would be carried out between November and March if planning permission is granted. Trees and hedges planted as landscaping will be maintained for the first five years and watered during times of drought. Field maple, strawberry trees and wild cherry trees are included in the stock.

Planning consent has also been sought from the council to build a single dwelling on land at Rheda Park in Frizington, on the site of the former Rheda Mansion.

And a recent application has revealed plans to redevelop and reinstate Scalegill Hall in Moor Row. Residential properties are set to be built on the neglected site.

The public have a right to view and comment on all applications submitted to the council for approval.
