Schoolgirl hurt after bus collision in Carlisle

Cumbria Police are appealing for witnesses to what happened

A police investigation has begun after a schoolgirl was seriously injured in a collision with a bus in Carlisle.

Cumbria Police say a 14 year old was left with serious leg injuries after her bag got caught in the bus door and she was dragged underneath the white coach began to drive off in London Road between 4:10pm and 4:15pm on Thursday 2 May.

It happened at the junction with Chertsey Mount.

Cumbria Police officers say they are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help establish the full circumstances of the incident.

They are also seeking to hear from motorists who may have dashcam footage which may have captured the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to PC 2746 Barr.
