Warning signs have finally been put in place on one of Cumbria's busiest roads almost two years after a crash killed two teenagers.

18-year-old Caitlin Huddleston and her friend Skye Mitchell died when the car they were in lost control on a bend on the A595 in Millom, in July 2017.

Caitlin's mum Sharron has been calling for Chevrons and speed reductions signs to be put in place on the bend where the crash happened.

The request was discussed at Cumbria's Casualty Reduction and Safer Highways meeting in November last year, and now the signs are in place.

County Councillor Keith Little, who's is in charge of Transport and Highways for Cumbria County Council, said:

"Where there's been an incident and perhaps the road signage hasn't been clear, that's our responsibility and we would replace those as quickly as possible. If we start to get a pattern when we're seeing four or five accidents in the same area we take a major strategic look at that with the police, what's causing this? Do we need to reduce the speed? Do we need to try and straighten the bend out? It's that kind of thing. If we get an accident blackspot we will try to make some physical improvements.

The chair of the C.R.A.S.H. meetings has also written to the Department for Transport backing calls for a G.D.L.
