A woman's suffered multiple injuries after a 20-metre fall down the Sharp Edge on Blencathra.

Keswick and Penrith Mountain Rescue Teams were called at 8:38am on Saturday to reports she'd fallen down the 'usual gully.'

18 members from Keswick, and 10 from Penrith, took part in the over six hour long rescue.

Low cloud and wet conditions made efforts trickier, with a twin rope system being used to lower the woman, and a stretcher carry required to reach an air ambulance.

A Coastguard helicopter airlifted the woman to a nearby hospital.
