Derbyshire Dog handlers, PC Sybil and one of their Police dogs were all recognised for their dedication at the National Service Dog Bravery and Achievement Awards.

The winners were selected from a pool of 3,500 nominations.

Derbyshire's PD Sybil, PC Chris Morris and PC Dean Allen, and CSI Zoe Parnell who now works for the British Transport Police, received an award in recognition of their dedication, commitment and development of forensic dog training and handling.

Sergeant Donna Abbott received an award for her commitment and dedication to duty. The award marked Sgt Abbott’s extraordinary work within the Dog Section, her dedication to duty, processes, work ethic and handling a working police dog.

Congratulating the team, Assistant Chief Constable Michelle Shooter said:

“It is fantastic to have our officers and our dogs recognised at these national awards, we are proud of the hard work our Dog Section does to keep the people of Derbyshire safe. Across the unit, the commitment to training and development is exemplary, and this is reflected in the great results the team achieve day and night.”
