JAILED: Nottingham child rapist put behind bars

A sexual predator who raped a child has been locked up.
Martin Bollington, aged 38, pleaded guilty to a plethora of child sexual offences, committed against four victims in the Nottingham area between May 2019 and October 2023.
Bollington, of HMP Nottingham, admitted the rape and attempted rape of a boy aged under 13, two counts of sexual assault, five counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, one count of causing/inciting a child to watch sexual activity, one count of voyeurism, and one count of distributing an indecent photograph of a child.
Bollington appeared before Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Friday (2 February 2024), where he was jailed for 17 years.
He will also have to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely and made subject of a sexual harm prevention order, which will tightly restrict his behaviour when he is released.
Detective Constable Ed Priestley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Bollington is a sexual predator who presents a real danger to children, so I am pleased he has now been brought to justice and put behind bars.
“The scope and gravity of his sexual offending was disturbing and his admissions to these horrific offences emanated from the overwhelming evidence we had against him.
“While I know the outcome of this case won’t rid Bollington’s victims of the memories of what he did to them, I truly hope it allows them to move forward with their lives, safe in the knowledge that he can no longer harm any other children.
“I also hope this sentence will reassure other victims that they can feel confident about coming forward and they will be listened to when reporting similar incidents to us.
“Nottinghamshire Police treats rape and sexual assault extremely seriously. We will always do everything in our power to make sure predatory offenders like Bollington are held to account and victims are offered the support they need by specially trained officers.
“We understand that victims of these offences are often coming to us for help at the most difficult time in their lives, and I want them to know that we will listen carefully to them, they will be taken seriously, we will investigate and do everything we can to get justice for them.”
