Forget pancakes, it’s all about age old rivalries in Ashbourne for the return of the town’s Shrovetide football!

The annual mass two-day encounter between the up-erds (those born north of Henmore Brook) and the down-erds (born to the south) who’ll be trying to get the ball to either the Sturston or Clifton goals, which lie on opposite ends of the town.

The ball will be ‘turned up’ for day one of Shrovetide at 2pm on Shawcroft Car Park.
