A suspected weapon has been found by police in Plymouth - who've made six arrests as part of an ongoing inquiry.

A suspected stolen vehicle was pulled over in the early hours of this morning.

A force spokesperson said: "Shortly after midnight today, Monday 15 April, a van which was been reported stolen was seen travelling into Plymouth.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team and Armed Response Units stopped the van in the area of Sydney Street at around 00:30am.

"Three people were found travelling in the cab of the van with a further three found in the rear of the vehicle.

"A baseball bat was found and has been seized.

"A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving whilst disqualified, theft of a vehicle and possession of an offence weapon.

"Three men, aged 33, 35 and 45, and a 39-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon.

"A 36-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle.

"They all remain in police custody."
