Murder probe: Man released on bail following woman's death in Devon

Police have confirmed a man who was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Devon has been released on bail.

The casualty in her 50s was found at a property in Tiverton on the evening of Friday the 22nd of October.

Officers and paramedics were called to an address at Bluebell Avenue shortly before 7pm.

Tragically, a woman in her 50s was found dead at the scene.

On Saturday, police said a man in his 60s has been arrested and taken into custody.

Devon and Cornwall Police have since confirmed he has been released on bail.

They added that enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident were ongoing.

In a statement released on Sunday, the force said: "Emergency services were called to an address in Bluebell Avenue, Tiverton, with a report of concern for the welfare of a person at around 6.50pm on Friday 22nd October.

"Police and paramedics attended and a woman aged in her 50s was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Her next-of-kin have been informed.

"The death is currently being treated as suspicious and an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"A local man aged in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

"He has been released on police bail until 12th January 2022 as enquiries continue".
