'Thank you to the supportive community', as search continues for missing man'

Twenty members of Dartmoor search and rescue spent yesterday looking for a missing 33 year old reported missing from Burgh Island.

The police helicopter and coastguard crews were also involved in the search for the hotel's staff member - around Bigbury-on-sea - who was reported missing more than a week ago.

A spokerson from the search and rescue team said afterward the six hour long search: "A staff member of the Burgh Island Hotel missing for some days. Concerns are growing for his well being.

"We like to say a big thank you to the local community for their support and a special thank you to the Bigbury Cafe for the coffees and teas with cakes and the very nice soups."

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police added: "Efstathios Anthis was last seen at the Burgh Island Hotel, Burgh Island, Bigbury on Sea, on the 8th March 2021 at approximately 0500 hours.

"He is described as a white Greek male, aged 33, 5 foot 7 in height and of a slim build, with short dark hair and a stubbly beard. Afstathios goes by the name of Stan.

"It is believed he may have travelled to the Plymouth area."
