Dorset charity aims to raise £250,000 in 30 hours
They need to raise £27,500 every day to keep the services going
Dorset charity Weldmar Hospicecare has set itself the target of reaching £250,000 during a thirty hour long fundraising marathon.
Spiralling costs means the charity estimates they will need around a million pounds more this year than they are able to raise through fundraising and in their charity shops. This is the equivalent of the cost of end of life care provision for 438 local people.
Weldmar who provide specialist care in Dorset for adults with range of life limiting illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and Motor Neurone Disease are taking on the challenge on Sunday 19th May.
The ‘Making Every Moment Matter’ campaign, will see contributions by members of the public, organisations and trust funds matched by other generous donors.
Matt Smith, COO of Weldmar Hospicecare from the charity said:
"Even a donation of £10 will make a massive difference and don't forget on the day it will be double, so a donation of £10 will be worth £20, it will allow us to provide bereavement support for children, vital clinical support for patients and just being there for people when they are facing one of life's most difficult journeys."
They're also looking for champions to help with the campaign:
"We're asking them to sign up to the campaign and on that day go out to all their friends, family and colleagues and say will you donate to this cause very close to their heart. They can have their own personal targets if they want personal targets and that will all feed in to the matched fund pot. "
