Money's been made available to projects across Dorset to help tackle anti-social behaviour and prevent future incidents.

The Police and Crime Commissioner's reopened a Community Fund, with grants between £100 and £5,000 on offer.

They'll be given to schemes that can reduce anti-social behaviour, and increase the public's feeling of safety, in affected areas.

The fund's supported 31 projects since it was set up in 2021 - they've included free skateboarding sessions for young people; boosting employability skills for ex-offenders; and CCTV installations.

The Top Club in Littlemoor, Weymouth, put in cameras with their funding, and have seen an 80% drop in anti-social behaviour incidents since.

Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner, David Sidwick said:

“I know the detrimental impact ASB can have on communities and individuals, and that is why I am so intent on driving down offences which cause harm to the people of Dorset.

The Operation Relentless Community Fund has already had some great results and I am eager to help more places across the county. If you are a charity or local project and you fit the bidding criteria – I would encourage you to bid for funding. Together we can drive down these offences and make Dorset the safest county.”

Applications through the PCC's website are open until 22nd April 2024.
