An antique bowl valued at £60 has sold for £28,600 pounds in Dorchester.

The sale of the 20th Century Chinese bowl baffled auctioneers at Dukes who are putting it down to the excitement of the auction.

It's described as an early 20th Century Chinese Porcelain Bowl. It's decorated with central crane medallion surrounded by cloud bands and here oval vignettes, on a pink ground decorated with chrysantehmums.

William Batt, Head of Sale at Dukes in Dorchester said:

"That’s the excitement of putting something into auction, it only takes two people to want something enough for it to fly. This result is just a taste of what is to come in the specialist auctions next week, with international bidding on three platforms the results are sure to be exhilarating!"

It sold as part of Dukes interiors auctions which take place monthly.
