Renewed appeal for dashcam footage after fatal Bere Regis crash

Police investigating a fatal accident at Bere Regis have renewed their appeal for any witnesses with dashcam footage to come forward.

A 62-year-old woman from Weymouth died in the crash involving four cars, that happened around 5pm on Sunday (18 September) at Rye Hill.

Officers attended the incident involving a blue Mazda MX5, a silver Ford C Max, a white Suzuki Ignis and a blue Honda Civic.

The passenger of the Suzuki – a 62-year-old woman from the Weymouth area – died at the scene. Her family was told and is continuing to be supported by officers.

A 49-year-old man from Poole and a 37-year-old woman from Yeovil were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious.

Arrest

A 34-year-old man from Yeovil was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and he has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Sergeant Geraint Butler, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the woman who sadly died, and we are continuing our investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward. I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage – either the collision itself or the vehicles involved in the moments leading up to it.”
