Attempted stabbing in Sturminster Newton

An 18 year old man has suffered a hand injury during an attempted stabbing in Sturminster Newton.

This happened between 6.15 and 7.00pm on Wednesday (20th April) while the victim was walking on a footpath near to the nature pond at Butts Pond Meadows.

Dorset Police tell us the teenager was approached by a man who tried to stab him with a Stanley-type blade.

The victim needed hospital treatment for the injury to his hand.

The offender ran away in the direction of Honeymead Lane.

There's now an appeal for anyone with information to come forward and speak to officers.

DESCRIPTION

The suspect in this incident is described as:

  • White
  • Five feet four inches tall
  • Stocky build
  • Wearing a black balaclava
  • Black hooded top with the hood up
  • Black tracksuit bottoms, with a white cord around the waist
  • Grey trainers with white laces

PC James McClements, of North Dorset police, said:

“I am carrying out enquiries into this incident and would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been walking in the area and saw a man matching the description given.”
