Bridport Museum is officially reopening it's doors after it closed due to the lockdown in March.

They've been given the 'Good to Go', the industry standard COVID-19 marker signalling it's implemented the Government's COVID-19 reopening guidance.

Staff have been working hard behind the scene to oil cogs on the rope making machine and get ready to share Bridport's stories once more.

Their exhibits explore how Dr Roberts helped combat disease 200 years ago, show off Bridport's famous footballing links, and the beautiful brittlestar fossils.

Museum Director Emily Hicks said:

"Everyone has been working really hard behind the scenes, and it’s been a tough 6 months.

"We are a charity and have survived this period with grant support, but we are facing an uncertain future and need your help. There are a number of ways that you can help us – when you visit, you could make a donation if you are able.

"If you live locally and have some spare time, we’d love to welcome new volunteers to help bring our stories to life. And don’t forget you can also support us ‘virtually’ by following us on social media. We look forward to seeing you soon’."

Rope makers are still doing demonstrations throughout the week. The gift shop is also open.

Children may also like the Captain Codd adventure trail.

The museum is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For more details about demonstrations, go to the Bridport Museum website.
