Pop sensation Chesney Hawkes is playing a gig in Cerne Abbas.

Chesney's appearing at Cerne Abbas Brewery next month (22nd July) to raise funds for his close childhood friend Vic Irvine.

Vic started the brewery 8 years ago.

He has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, and the funds raised will go towards his treatment.

Chesney told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset:

"I have spent a lot of time in Cerne Abbas as my bessie mate Vic lives there. We've known each other since we were kids at school.

"We need to raise some funds for Vic as he is trying everything, including alternative therapies.

"He's a larger than life character with the biggest heart I know. He has a beautiful family that are very close to my own family.

Other guests on the line up for the gig include Chesney's brother who's playing drums, and Thomas Jules from Rudimental plus a few surprises.

There's also support from Dorset's That Britpop Band.

Chesney said:

"We are going to have a really fun evening to celebrate Vic. And Vic's 13-year-old daughter is going to be on the decks! Vic is an avid follower of my music so I am going to play a couple of songs of mine I hardly ever play just for him."

But the question, is will he be playing that song.

"Of course I will be doing The One and Only."
