Thomas Hardye School's sent a letter home to parents in which they've said several students in Year 12 have been asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

The rest of the school remains open for the rest of this week, before they break up for half term.

They're also working alongside Public Health England and Dorset Council to make sure precautionary measures are being taken to protect students and staff.

The Dorchester school thinks putting them in the position of having to make a decision on exams going ahead is 'unfair'

In a statement, Sam Crowe, Director of Public Health for Dorset said:

"We are aware of confirmed cases of Covid-19 at The Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester. The school is working closely with Public Health Dorset, Dorset Council and Public Health England South West to ensure that all necessary measures are being met.

"All close contacts of the confirmed cases have been notified and advised to self-isolate for 14-days. Contacts of the confirmed case should get tested if they go on to develop symptoms. Even if people test negative, they must still self-isolate for 14-days."
