Dorset brewers Hall & Woodhouse, which runs pubs across the region, raised over £700,000 for charities and good causes throughout 2023.

The company say that's a record amount, with an aim to raise £1 million a year by the time they reach their 250th anniversary in 2027.

The money's come from direct donations from the business, and fundraising events across their venues.

Anthony Woodhouse, Chairman of Hall & Woodhouse, said:

“Making people’s day is central to our purpose and this extends to how we support the lives of others outside of our pubs. We’re proud to have been able to donate and raise the essential funds needed by charities, voluntary organisations and other principally local good causes. Doing so has been thanks to the efforts of the entire H&W team.

“It is also with thanks to our communities that we have been able to raise such funds and awareness for charitable organisations which enrich people’s lives. We’re committed to raising more and more funds every year to help brilliant charitable groups in the south of England thrive, and I am excited to see what 2024 holds.”

Where's the money gone?

The brewers put £140,000 into the Teddy Rocks music festival in Dorset - through sponsorships and bar profits at the three day event.

The charity festival support children's cancer charities.

H&W's Dorset beer festival, held at their Blandford HQ, raised £10,000 for Dorset Mind.

£18,000 was donated to The Tank Museum at Bovington, as part of its annual TANKFEST, which will help preserve the world’s largest collection of tank memorabilia for educational purposes.

Over £60,000 also went to mental health charity Mind and the British Red Cross Disaster Fund Appeal, as the company donated 50% of all net sales over one day.

Fundraising activities planned for 2024 include sponsored walks, sleep outs in pub gardens, and a Hall & Woodhouse football cup.
