Dorset County Hospital say they are seeing high numbers of patients attending the Emergency Department.
We are being urged to call 111 if we are not sure where to go for medical help.
The hospital say the situation has been compounded by difficulties in getting the right care package for people who are ready to leave.
A spokesperson for Dorset County Hospital said:
"The hospital is very busy and we are trying to manage the situation so we can treat the patients who need us most as quickly as possible.
"Our ongoing challenges are the high number of people attending ED, difficulties securing the right packages of care for people ready to leave hospital and staffing issues due to sickness and staff having to self-isolate as cases or contacts of COVID-19."
