Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is calling for us to help it continue working effectively and efficiently.

They've proposed a new Community Safety Plan (CSP), but a 12-week consultation period has been launched for us to provide our feedback on the plan.

It sets out the service's priorities and challenges until 2028 and covers five priority areas: prevention, protection, response, governance and people.

Area Manager for Service Improvement, Jason Moncrieff says they're asking for our views because they want what the public has to say:

"We've got our indications of what we think we want to do, but we want the Community to put his hand up and tell us what's going well, what's not going as well, areas we need to focus on if there's a risk in the Community that we've missed, we want the Community to tell us and likewise, if we're getting it right, we also want to tell them that we think you've got your priorities right."

The plan covers a wide range of things, including how they plan to help education children, new vehicles they intend to purchase, create a more diverse workforce and ensure they're spending money sensibly.

"We really do want to hear from all of the residents, all of the businesses, partners to us as other organizations are the blue light organizations, charities, voluntary groups, everybody," Jason said.

He says the service wants to ensure the public gets value for money, but the service isn't immune from the financial pressures surrounding us all.

"We have limited resources, we would love to do everything for everybody, but we can't."

The consultation period runs until Friday 3rd May 2024.

We can view the CSP on the service's website, where we can also provide our feedback.
