Elderly man dies in Swanage car crash

An 83 year old passed away at the scene of a collision this morning (Thursday 15th October).

The incident happened on Swanage High Street at around 11.20am today.

A Skoda Yeti collided with two parked vehicles - a Ford Transit and a BMW 520.

The Skoda driver, an 83 year old man from Swanage, died at the scene and his family has been informed.

The road remains closed while investigations are carried out by Dorset Police.

Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said:

"Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died.

"We are carrying out a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the collision and I would like to hear from any witnesses who have not spoken with police yet or anyone with relevant dashcam footage.

"I am grateful for the patience of anyone affected by the road closure, which is necessary to allow the emergency services to respond to this incident and for an examination of the scene to be carried out safely."
