After 54 years in Dorset, a fashion boutique is closing it's doors for good.

Lady Birds has seen various iterations in the past 5 and a half decades and has been at home on Weymouth High Street for 8 years.

But, shop owner Roma Pye says it's now time to say goodbye.

"I'm 79, you can't be working forever, can you?

"It's the end of the lease, the thing is with Weymouth it's a long winter here. We do very well in the summer, but in the winter, it's a very long winter. We get 6 months of winter."

"We closed for the virus, obviously for three months, then we picked up straight away the minute we opened the doors.

"We've been busy ever since."

She says they've got the lease until the end of September but there's no more stock on the way, meaning once it's gone, it's gone.

"I think it's in your blood, fashion, isn't it?

"I shall miss the company of it all, we've got such a lovely lot of customers that come in year after year."

Her daughter has set up another business on Link Park, Baby Birds, which sells a variety of baby equipment like prams.

Roma says she may dip in and help there if she can't keep herself away.
