Only three fines for Bournemouth beach litter

BCP Council admits it's 'very difficult' to hand out fines

It's been revealed only three fines have been issued to people littering on Bournemouth beach so far this summer.

There's been anger over the piles of rubbish left behind, from plastic bottles, cans, broken glass and even nappies.

BCP Council admits it's 'very difficult' to hand out fines, as you've got to see people drop it and leave it.

Chris Saunders, BCP Council’s Service Director Destination and Culture, said:

"Enforcement is always available through the Seafront Rangers and Community Safety Officers. It isn't the easy thing to do.

"We know we've got an issue around littering and we're working really hard to try to sort that out."

Triple-sized bins are in place along the seafront with clean up teams starting work in the early hours of the morning.
