Wyke Coastguard and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust were called out just before 2.00pm on Saturday (September 20th) to reports of an injured climber at freshwater Bay Portland.

A spokesperson from the coastguard said:

“A male climber had fallen approximately 8ft and suffered a lower leg injury. The climber was given casualty care by Wyke CRT, who was already on scene until paramedics arrived.

“He was then treated for his injury. Due to the location and difficult terrain, it was decided to airlift him by Rescue 175 to the cliff top and then transfer to an awaiting ambulance to DCH.”

The teams then stood down and returned to their stations.
