A special memorial service is being planned in Weymouth to remember all those who have been lost in Dorset over the last year.

Dorset Council's arranging the annual event at the town's Crematorium, to start at 2.00pm on Sunday 25th September.

This year a celebration picnic is planned, led by a multi-faith celebrant, with a chance to light a candle in memory of loved ones.

Music and refreshments will be provided by the Salvation Army.

Anyone going along is asked to take blankets and chairs to sit on - with a covered area available if there's poor weather.

Cllr Laura Beddow, Dorset Council Portfolio holder for Culture, Communities and Customer Services, said:

“The annual memorial service is a lovely way to celebrate the lives of loved ones that we’ve lost. This year will be extra special in the beautiful gardens of the Crem.

“The event is free and there is no need to book. We just want people to come, remember, and have a pleasant Sunday afternoon."
