A star of Poole Lighthouse's pantomime last Christmas has been nominated for a prestigious national award- oh yes he has!

Benjamin Armstrong is up for Newcomer of the Year at the British Panto Awards, for the title role in Aladdin.

More than 200 productions are judged to come up with the shortlists for what's dubbed the 'Panto Oscars'.

Lighthouse Chief Executive Elspeth McBain said:

“It is a real achievement to have a nomination for the annual Panto Awards and Ben is a deserving nominee.

“This was his first role in a pantomime, and we are delighted to have given him that opportunity to shine. His beautiful rendition of Take That’s Rule the World was a real highlight of our show.

“Our fingers – and everything else – are crossed for a win!”

The winners will announced in a ceremony in London on June 18th.

Lighthouse productions are no stranger to the awards though.

2022’s Cinderella saw Andrew Pollard and Alim Jadavji win Best Sisters, although the show lost out to Sir Ian McKellen’s Mother Goose as Best Panto in all the land!
