More details have been released about the cause of long queues of traffic on the A354 getting onto Portland.

Temporary traffic lights have been behind tailbacks over the weekend, affecting residents and tourists using the route.

We've now been told by electricity supplier SSEN that they've been working on site.

They've identified a fault on the high voltage network that needed urgent repair.

Those works are due to be completed today (Monday 4th July), but temporary traffic lights will remain in place until Wednesday (6th July).

That's so the road surface can be fully restored.

A spokesperson has also apologised for the disruption:

"SSEN would like to thank any customers who have been affected by these works for their patience. Our engineers are working as safely and quickly as possible to restore the network and road to full operation."
