Weymouth plane-spotters will be sad to hear a planned appearance from a Spitfire this weekend has been called off.

It had been due to fly alongside a Hurricane fighter plane as part of Armed Forces weekend on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Weymouth Town Council said:

"We have just been notified by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Team that unfortunately the Spitfire has been grounded for the weekend and will not take part in the Weymouth flypast.

"The mighty Hurricane will still fly the length of Weymouth Beach at 11am on Sunday 19th June, so be sure to give it a wave and a huge Weymouth cheer!"
