Successful 'Tankfest' raises funds for Dorset's Tank Museum
It attracted over 20,000 people, with visitors from as far as Australia and Japan
Tankfest, sponsored by World of Tanks, attracted over 20,000 people last weekend as they hosted the Tank Museum’s most important fundraising event of the year.
With visitors from as far as Australia and Japan, Tankfest is regarded as the biggest and best show of its kind in the world. All funds raised from the three-day event go back into the Museum, to help keeping its historic vehicles running.
Tankfest 2022 featured a range of historic vehicles dating from the Second World War, as well as a display of modern armour from the British Army.
Highlights from other collections included a Sherman M50 from Yorkshire and one of only two running Japanese HA-GO tanks left from the Second World War.
Tank Museum’s Visitor Experience General Manager Rosanna Dean, said:
“We had a fantastic programme for this year’s TANKFEST. As well as the world-class tank displays, visitors enjoyed military demonstrations, a World of Tanks gaming zone, talks, a variety of traders and caterers, and even a parachute display on Friday."
For tanks enthusiasts who couldn’t attend, The Tank Museum broadcast a live stream of the event on its YouTube channel, sponsored by World of Tanks.
The three-hour broadcast featured live tank displays, collections from international tank museums and tank driving features.
