Police investigating Bridport assault arrest teenager

A 17 year old boy from Dorchester's been questioned

A teenager's been arrested, as police continue investigations into a serious assault in Bridport on New Year's Day.

A man and a woman were walking in the North Allington Road area in the early hours when a group of people approached them.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was threatened and assaulted, before being chased along Fulbrooks Lane and assaulted against at a block of flats on Fulbrooks Close.

He suffered serious head and facial injuries that needed hospital treatment.

A 17 year old boy from Dorchester has now been arrested on suspicion of inflicting GBH with intent and attempted robbery.

He's been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses.

Detective Constable Fiona Napier, of Dorset County CID, said:

“We are keen to speak to anyone with relevant home CCTV or doorbell camera footage in the areas of St Swithins Road, Fullbrooks Close and North Allington Road between 2.00am and 4.00am on Monday 1st January 2024.

“We would also like to speak to the driver of a red car that was seen in the area, as we believe they may have witnessed the assault on North Allington Road.”
