Thieves break into church in Gillingham

Police are still trying to establish what was taken

Officers investigating a burglary at a church in Gillingham are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was discovered at 9am yesterday (3 June) that entry had been forced to St Benedict’s Church in Cemetery Road. It is believed the break-in occurred between 11am on Wednesday 2 June and 9am on Thursday 3 June 2021. Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish what has been stolen.

Police Community Support Officer Vicky Biggs, of North Dorset police, said:

“We are investigating this incident and I am appealing to anyone who has witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to please contact us.

“I would also urge anyone with information as to who is responsible for this burglary to please come forward.”
