The locations of the ŠKODA King of the Mountains and sprint points for the Dorset stage of this year’s Tour of Britain, the UK’s most prestigious cycle race, have today been revealed.

Riders will battle for time bonuses and points towards the sprints jersey in Dorchester (London Road), Wareham (South Street), and on the B3078 approaching Knowlton (outside the Horton Inn).

Three ŠKODA King of the Mountains climbs will also see riders battle for points towards the climbers’ jersey with all three falling within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The first at Daggers Gate above West Lulworth, is close to the world famous limestone arch at Durdle Door, while the second, Whiteways Hill, sits on a ridge above the famous ‘ghost’ village of Tyneham with spectacular views in all directions.

The final ŠKODA King of the Mountains climb of the stage is Okeford Hill with 55 kilometres of racing to go.

As well as serving as popular viewing locations for spectators, the points on offer at each location go towards determining the outcome of the hotly-contested ŠKODA King of the Mountains (KoM) and sprint jerseys.

Alongside the additional route information timings for the Dorset stage have also been confirmed, with stage seven due to start from West Bay’s Esplanade at 11:00 on Saturday 10 September.

The 176-kilometre (109-mile) stage is expected to finish on Victoria Road in the centre of Ferndown between 15:01 and 15:51.

Former winners of the jersey include 2010 Tour de France champion Andy Schleck (2006) and Grand Tour stage winner Thomas De Gendt (2009). Britain’s Jacob Scott (Wiv SunGod) has won the competition in the past two editions of the race (2019 and 2021).
