Volunteers needed this autumn to help stop COVID-19 in Dorset

Kings Park Hospital in Boscombe is calling for your support

Volunteers to help the autumn Covid-19 vaccination programme at Kings Park Hospital in Boscombe are being looked at by the Community Action Network (CAN).

While Kings Park Hospital is now the main site for the vaccination programme, CAN has been providing volunteers to work alongside the NHS since the doors first opened at the original mass vaccination site at the Bournemouth International Centre in January 2021.

To help protect communities and save lives, CAN is launching a recruitment campaign to find volunteer marshals. They’ll help people attending Covid-19 appointments, ensuring that the busy vaccination centre runs like clockwork.

Louise Ford, Senior Volunteer Coordinator Lead, said:

“We want people coming for vaccinations to feel welcomed, comfortable and safe. Our volunteer marshals play an important role in guiding visitors through their vaccination journey.”

Amy Collins, Volunteer Development Lead, added:

“Volunteer marshals help in so many ways, from providing a friendly welcome to escorting people to vaccination points and bidding farewell at the exit.”

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided, as well as refreshments and travel expenses, whether volunteers arrive by bus, train, car or Beryl Bike.

Various shifts will be available throughout the week, including evenings and weekends. On each shift, volunteers will receive a full briefing, with staff on hand for support, as well as regular breaks.

Anyone over the age of 16 can register their interest via CAN’s website at www.can100.org with more information available on the site’s Volunteering Hub page.

The autumn Covid-19 vaccination programme is expected to get under way in early September.

Simply book on to an induction today, attend over the next couple of months and you’ll be ready to help protect communities from Covid-19 in the run-up to winter.

Potential volunteers who would like to find out more should call Community Action Network on 01202 099474.
