Number of weekly new COVID-19 cases shrinks in Dorset

There were fewer new coronavirus cases in the Dorset Council area this week than the week before.

390 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Dorset Council area this week.

That's the first time since the start of September that the number has fallen.

The figures from 25th - 31st October were a drop from 414 between 18th - 24th October.

In the past seven days, seven people have lost their lives after testing positive for coronavirus here in Dorset.

The latest R number (the rate at which coronavirus infections occur) for the South West is estimated at 1.2 to 1.4.

How many are in hospitals in Dorset?

As of 4 November 2020, there were 113 COVID-19 patients in hospital beds in Dorset. This is in comparison to 85 patients on 27 October 2020.

7 people died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus in the past 7 days.

What about Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole?

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole saw a rise in the number of weekly cases as of the 31st of October.

There were 816 (+42 on last week) new cases there, compared with 774 the week before.
