Weymouth marking United Nations Day with flag raising

A special ceremony's being held this morning (24th October)

Weymouth is marking the 'remarkable humanitarian efforts' of the United Nations today (Tuesday 24th October).

The Town Council's raising the UN's flag at their offices on Commercial Road from 10.30am.

There'll be a short ceremony, led by the Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller.

She'll give a speech, along with the President of Weymouth and Portland Lions, Ryan Hope.

Anyone's welcome to attend.

Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller said:

“I take great pride in commemorating this significant day that celebrates the remarkable humanitarian efforts undertaken by the United Nations across the world.

"The United Nations' mission and contributions hold particular significance for our global community."
