Police in Weymouth had to call in a bomb disposal after they were given a relic from the Second World War.

A case linked to mustard gas was found during a clearance.

The instructions said to hand it into the police!

A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

"The item appears to be kit linked to mustard gas and was found in storage where the finder was clearing out a relatives belongings.

"It is believed to be from WWII. It was handed to us because the instructions on the tin told them to!

"Please remember anything like this, as interesting as a relic, is potentially very dangerous and should be disposed of carefully."

It was disposed of safely.
