Woman assaulted in broad daylight in Gillingham

The incident happened near to the town's train station

A woman's been assaulted by a man in broad daylight in Gillingham, with police asking witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened in Station Yard, close to the train station, between 12.30 and 2.00pm on Saturday 9th December.

The pair had a small white dog with them at the time.

A 35 year old man from Blandford, who's known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

He's been released on bail while enquiries continue.

There's now an appeal for anyone who saw what happened to contact officers.

PC James Owen, of North Dorset police, said:

“I am continuing to investigate the incident and would ask anyone who saw any suspicious activity involving a man and woman in the area to please come forward.”
