Police appealing for witnesses after serious car crash near Kirkton

Two children have been taken to hospital following a serious road traffic collision near Dumfries, with a four-year-old boy in a serious condition.
Police received reports of the incident on the C11n Dumfries to Auldgirth Road north of Kirkton at 9:10am on Wednesday the 26th of July.
The accident involved two cars, a black Audi A6 and a black BMW 1 Series.
Constable Callum Kingstree, Roads Policing Unit, Dumfries, said:
“An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the collision and I would appeal to any motorists in that area to contact us with any information they may have.
"If anyone has any dash cam footage, please pass it on as it could assist our enquiries”.
Four people were taken to hospital
The four year old male passenger from the Audi was transported by Air Ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Medical staff say he is in a serious but stable condition.
Three other individuals including the female driver of the Audi, a female child passenger, and the 52 year old male driver of the BMW were all taken to the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. It’s understood their conditions are stable also.
Following the incident, the road was closed for several hours while officers conducted enquiries at the scene.
The road has since reopened.
