Following a spate of break-ins and thefts from work vans in the Dumfries and Eastriggs area, Police are appealing for information to help trace the perpetrators.

Calls were made to Police on Saturday the 19th of August, when 13 reports were made of tools being stolen, as well as attempts to break into vehicles.

Reports came from the Summerhill, Maxwelltown and Summerville areas of Dumfries, as well as Durban Road in Eastriggs.

Officers are eager to identify the occupants of a silver Volkswagen Golf which was seen in the area at around quarter to two in the morning.

It's believed the incidents are connected

Speaking on the reports, Detective Constable Craig Flint said: “We believe at this time that these break-ins and thefts are linked. There has been a significant number broken into.

“The thieves obviously knew what they were looking for and seem to have specifically targeted works vans.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen this car in these areas, or any persons seen acting suspiciously, to please get in touch. Similarly, if your vehicle has been tampered with but you’ve not reported it to police, then please do so.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to report this to officers on 101, quoting incident number 0359 and the incident date, 19th of August.
